Dundee scored in the 90th minute to win the game. Alloa were 1-0 up through a Scott Walker goal, Dundee equalised in 86 minutes. |

Dundee website says Alloa were the better team in the 2nd half. Seems like we were unlucky. I wasn't that bothered about the result today, was looking more for decent performance by the team today. Win would have been nice, but seems like we played well.

We were excellent today. First 20 minutes Dundee had nearly all of the ball but never really opened us up. Gibson, Walker and Dunlop using their experience and the rest working hard.
AM switched it to 4-5-1 moving Noble wide left and pulling Darren Smith into the middle. From then on we got more possession and denied Dundee room. Noble was giving Irvine a hard time and also stopping him getting forwards. For all their possession Dundee were creating very little and we got to half-time 0-0.
Different game in the second half right from the start. We pushed forwards and the players began to play like they believed they could win. We were getting more and more joy down the left where Noble was causing problems, backed by Smith and sometimes Dunlop.
Walker's goal when it arrived was a tremendous header, there was no pace on the ball and he was about the penalty spot. Shortly after that Andy Scott hit the bar with a curler from about 20-25 yards, cutting in from the left. If that had gone in there's no way Dundee would have come back.
I can see why AM made his changes, as Prunty and Noble must have been knackered, but it allowed Irvine to get forwards late on and he put in a very good cross. McMenamin got across Walker (?) for a good goal, but Dundee got lucky for the winner which deflected into Higgins path right in front of Robertson.
Very encouraging all round. No bad performers, although Robertson had little to do except pick the ball out of the net. All the new players look like improvements on what we had last season. Bring on the Shire! |

| Couldn't fault 1 player today. Everyone to a man played well, but great credit to John Grant who playing out of position at RB, contained Griffiths. Also impressed by Gibson, his tackle at 1-0 when the Dundee player was about to shoot was differant class. Him and Walker seem to have a good understanding and limited Dundee to very few chances. |

Looked really impressive in the game, dealt with Dundee comfortably throughout, until the last few minutes. I though we were tiring in the last 20, so it was a bit of a relief when Walker scored. Dundee made their substitutions and all of a sudden they were putting dangerous balls in the box. No doubts they were really fortunate to win though.
Grant was excellent as a makeshift right back, Billy Gibson was superb and Andy Scott also had one of his best games for a long time.
Big Lister gave their centre halfs a few problems when he came on, looks like we may use him as an impact sub initially.
Noticed Maitland at the ref at time up for what I assume was a handball claim for the first Dundee goal.
Anyway, great day out, and a very good performance by the team. I was a bit gutted at the end, but have got over it fairly quickly, and looking forward to the Shire game, where we should be looking to win. |
