Not been on the Duffle for a while so this might be old news (apologies if this is the case)but i've heard that Scot Buist has taken a backward step in his career and moved to the Binos,is this true?

It is indeed, although last I heard he hadnt actually signed but looked like he was going to. Appears I was a little hasty in confirming he had signed.

Suppose we'll find out this weekend if he plays for them against Falkirk in the Challenge Cup.

It's in today's Record that he has signed for the Bino's.

I suppose it is getting to the stage where he needs to take a deal somewhere.

I wonder if he now regrets what he did with Alloa, all he had to do was say I am going to Dundee for a trial, if it doesn't work out can I come back?

What did he do? I assume he kept Alloa in the dark about his plans? Did he do what lots of players seem to do as a norm now, treat the clubs with little respect?

From what I hear he kept Alloa waiting for quite a while when the offered him a good new deal, eventully AM just cancelled the offer, from what I have heard anyway.

I also believe he has an agent!

As I have stated earlier, no one gets to f**k AM about when it comes to contracts and most players usally re-sign quickly. Bet he is kicking himself as a move to another part time team in Scotland other than Alloa is a step down.

Buisty will I have no doubt, look forward to geting plenty win bonuses in the coming months. His best chance of a move to the big time would have been to star in our first team and be consistant instead of the lottery of trial periods pre season with a dozen other players in the same boat.

A good player for Alloa and improved every season he was with us but I am sure that we won't miss someone who averages about 20 games a season.

He rejected Alloas offer in order to take a gamble to get a full time deal and it didnt work out. He began to panic, had a couple of offers on the table I believe, but Albion were the only Division 1 team with an offer. I am pretty sure Ayr United were the other team.

Pretty sure in hindsight the big man would have stuck with the Wasps, but I would guess that Stirling and Ayr offered him better contracts, and I heard the Albion offer was a very good one.

Not quite sure what happened with him and Maitland, but it looks like it hasnt been handled well at all.
Alloa have often said in the past that they wouldnt stand in the way of any player moving to a bigger or full time club, so as bringbacktheshed says, I dont think Allan Maitland would have had a problem with him trying out for Dundee.

I liked Maitland's attitude in the paper. Said that when a player leaves Alloa he doesn't care where they end up. Be it David Crawford or Scott Buist. None of this nonsence about thanking the player for their time at the club. Basically if you don't want to play for us then get tae.

Agree. IMO both Crawford and Buist have made bad career moves, trying to cash in on one particularly good season. They are both talented lads but perhaps not as good as they think they are. They would have developed better staying with us.

I think thats probably correct. Theres a conveyor belt of players who thought they were destined for bigger things after brief purple patches at the club, who have ended up in the 3rd division or juniors.

Now now, I know you lot are still hurting but there is no need for that

Still look on the bright side, you may have lost the league on goal difference to your bigger rivals and lost one of your best players to them BUT you do have an excellent new team badge

One of our best players, says who??

He only played in half the games last season as he was always injured and when he did get fit he only got back in when Townsley or Walker were suspended or injured. Check the stats in the games he did feature he was either on the bench or more often than not subbed.

If you think Buist will assist in keeping you up, you are sadly deluded, if he was as good as he thinks and you think he is we would have taken him back if he was that irreplacable, buthe is not and as BSD says would rather have Gibson any day.
