18th March 2010 NEW MANAGER APPOINTED
Even with messageboards and newpaper columns casting predictions left right and centre, perhaps few would have predicted the identity of Pollok's new manager. The successful candidate is WILLIE IRVINE, a 46-year-old with considerable playing experience at both Junior and Senior level as well as managerial experience in the juniors dating back to 2002. Willie comes to Lok having been manager of Norwegian lower league outfit Lillesand for the 2008 and 2009 seasons, though latterly concentrated on the club's youth academy, and prior to that was in charge of Sauchie Juniors and Bo'ness United. He also worked as a youth coach at Falkirk. As a player, Willie was a very highly regarded striker, and stepped up to senior level from Dunipace Juveniles in 1982, signing for Stirling Albion. He had a brief spell in the Premier League in the mid 80s with both Hibs and Dunfermline but played most of his career in the lower divisions.
For those interested, his career in chronological order is: Dunipace Juveniles, Stirling Albion, Hibernian, Dunfermline Athletic, Vidar, Airdrieonians, Albion Rovers, Meadowbank Thistle, Berwick Rangers, Alloa Athletic, Stenhousemuir, Sauchie (Player/Manager), Camelon, Bo'ness United (Player/Manager), Craigroyston, Sauchie, Lillesand (Manager).
There will be a further announcement on the make-up of the backroom team.
