2-0 against Sauchie Juniors today in another decent runout. A diving header by Walker and David Gormley getting the goals.
Dunlop played centre half again, with McAvoy left back. Darren Smith played about an hour and looked excellent. McDonald showed some nice touches and big Jim Lister had a really good game coming on for the last half hour.
Aaron Somerville played up front for the first half, but didnt do too much.
Billy Gibson again warming up with the other players but didnt come on. Same with Mark Brown.
Starting team was Ewings,McClune,Walker,Dunlop, McAvoy,Wilson,Grant,McDonald,Smith,Noble,Somerville
John Grant moved to right back for the second half. Andy Scott, Hugh Kerr, David Gormley, Jim Lister and Jamie Hay all came on at some stage
Squad is looking really good. Once again, passed the ball around really well, but getting a lot of time and space against the junior teams. Dundee at Dens will be obviously be a far bigger test. |

Definitely more passing ability and "know how" in the midfield with McDonald and Smith in there, the forwards are going to get better service this year and hopefully we will see quite a few more goals as a result. Big Lister looks like he will give us something different, pity he missed that easy header. Would like to see him and Noble get amongst the goals soon.
Dunlop again very assured, but I'd rather see him at left back with Walker moving to the left side of central defence and Gibson or Brown coming in to partner him. Not that young McManus lets anyone down. I like his energy and the way he puts himself about.

Pretty much a meh sort of game.
Did OK. Which is probably all you can expect of a preseason warmup. I really liked the look of Dunlop again. A real find there. Somerville was very disappointing I thought. Also thought McDonald was poor. Must do better than that.
I think Smith will be a brilliant addition once the season starts.
Gibson is injured but I assume we're giving him a contract.
Still cant believe Lister missed that header from less than a yard out. Apart from that I think he will be a good signing. |

Going to have to disagree with you regarding MacDonald BSD.
I thought he had a very decent game, kept it simple and played some excellent balls, particularly in the 2nd half. Always wants the ball and doesn't hide.
All about opinions though. |

Wasnt there last night, but apparently we lost 3-2 to Pollok- Billy Gibson and Mark Brown both played though.
Hugh Kerr scored a penalty, but not sure of the other scorer. |

Lister got the first goal. Nicked a header wide of the keeper. Good picture of it on the website.
Team was: Robertson : Philp, Gibson, Dunlop, McAvoy : Scott, Brown, Hay, Kerr : Lister, Gormley. Jason Thomson came on for Andy Scott at half time and young Scott Gallgher made his debut at 16 replacing Gormley in the second half.
We were pretty comfortable in the first half but lost two bad goals from headers in the second half. Although Gibson and Dunlop did well at centre half, we missed Walker on these two occasions.
Actually a good game. Pollock put in a few hard challenges.
None of the second string on view advanced their case much for a starting place, but none of them did badly either. Big Lister was a handful. |

I think Lister and Gormley are going to be important players for us this season.
I can see them both being used as impact subs, 70 minutes into a game when we need something different we have 2 quick and strong players to come on, no defender is going like that!
Gormley can also do a job on the right, though his crossing is a bit erratic, a few ended up in Hawkhill top street last season.

Says we have signed Ramay. Anyone know anything about him (the Hamilton sight is hopeless). |

Think he has been signed for the u19's mate.
In the local rags that Aron Sommerville will not be offered a deal and that Jinky is being given extrs time to win a deal. Nothing about Hugh Kerr, though he played last night.
AM says that he is very happy with his squad. I would be happy for either Hugh or Jinky to sign as it gives us another option wide. |

They could play 3 matches as a trialist unless the rules have changed.
From what I have seen of Jinky he does not seem the same player, but I really hope he can find his fitness and form. |
