Pre season matches begin with a closed door match (will be able to get in to watch though) against Albion Rovers next Monday night, followed by the Keyline Cup at Oban the following Saturday.

Pre season matches are always rotten, but we always end up going every year.

We can stick all the pre season match discussion in here.

Already got a long weekend sorted out for Oban. Although we're probably due a right wet day. Will be good whatever.

Any word of a friendly on Saturday 17th? We have a game away at Pollok Juniors on Tuesday 20th.

Nice while it lasted, but probably best he's out of the picture as soon as possible. The management can more easily concentrate on preparing the team for the start of the season proper on 24th July.

1-0. Prunty

Not the worst friendly preseason game I've ever seen. We looked pretty decent going forward but still need to put the chances away. Most of the squad got a run out and on the whole looked ok.

Was especially pleased to see Dougie get 45 mins and look trouble free. Because so many players played it was a bit difficult to take definites from the game but the partnership of Lister and Prunty looked the most dangerous. We also seem to have a good competition of who is going to be the no. 1 keeper

Walker and Brown played the whole game together. Maybe a sign of things to come. Dunlop looked assured in his 45 mins at left back.

Only a preseason friendly but certainly encouraging signs.

Decent enough performance last night- final ball isnt quite there yet but thats to be expected at this early stage.

Nice to see a fair few of them really putting the effort in, particularly those who may be on the fringes for the season ahead.

The back 4 of McClune/Brown/Walker and Dunlop is easily the best back 4 as we've ever had during Allan Maitlands spell at the club.

Big Jim Lister looked the part- not just a target man to aim high balls at as I suspected he might be. Showed some good touches, and puts himself about a bit. May link up very well with Prunty.

Mick Dunlop looked comfortable and made some decent overlapping runs- really good to have a left back who knows what he's doing.

Declan McAvoy did well in the 2nd half- might be a decent option at left midfield, seems to enjoy that bit more freedom to get forward.

Prunty looked sharp as ever, took his goal well and had another couple of decent chances- get the service to him this season and he'll score a lot of goals.

Aaron Somerville looked decent in the first half and will have done his chances of getting a contract no harm.

Dougie showed glimpses of what he's capable of, really hoping he gets a contract.

Jamie Ewing looked really comfortable in goals second half with some really decent handling.

Very early days yet of course, but signs were encouraging- looking forward to Oban on Saturday.

I thought that was a decent run out last night. First half we looked secure at the back with Michael Dunlop fitting in well and Mark Brown again showing that central defence is probably his best position. We didn't really look too great going forward in this period, however (although obviously it's just the first run out of the close season and these things can take a while to settle).

In the second half I thought we looked much better in the forward areas with Prunty and Lister as our front two. Lister won pretty much everything in the air and also showed a good touch and turn of pace. I also thought that Jinky looked bscked to fitness and it was great to have his pace and ability to beat a man (I really hope we get him signed up for next season). I also thought the youngsters did well, Jamie Hay in particular who just kept things ticking over in midfield.

Just back from Oban. Not a great day results wise (4 1-0 defeats and a 2-0 win), but generally the team looked good and weren't outplayed in any of the games, including that against a strong Dundee United line-up.

All of the new signings and guys playing for contracts except Lister and Robertson were there. I assume that was Billy Gibson who featured at centre half in the last two games.

Plus points for me were the genuine balance we now have down the left (Dunlop looks to overlap all the time, Smith doesn't waste a ball), the addition of McDonald as a creative passing midfielder (who also got through his share of work and ball winning), McLune picking up from where he left off last season (played all two and a half hours and hardly put a foot wrong) and the fact we have cover right across the park.

Young Jason Thomson looked our most dangerous striker. Prunty and Noble were both quiet. Gormley was...well...Gormley. Jinky looked fit and sharp but his final ball could be better. With Lister and Scott able to play up front we have several options there and the players will need to perform or someone else will step in.

Decent enough day. Thankfully enough the rain stayed away!

Did well 1st game against Dundee Utd. Held our own for most of the 30 minute game, but near the end Utd scored from a corner. We had a good chance through Smith afterwards but Banks? in goals for Utd made a fantastic stop.

2nd game against a young Hamilton side wasn't as good as our 1st game. Although we started with a far weaker team. Again, Hamilton scored a late goal.

I can't for the life of me mind much about the St Johnstone and Hearts games. St Johnstones goal was a mistake by Ewings. Hearts goal was an own goal by Gibson.

Last game against Oban was a decent performance. Thomson upfront played really well. Scored the 2nd goal after a great 1st touch and slotting it under the advancing keeper. Was a class finish.

Good run out for the squad. Was impressed with McDonald. Really comfortable on the ball and can pick a pass. Also Ewings in the goals. Really comanding and made a few good saves.

The team got a fair bit of luck last year when they won the trophy..didnt get any at all yesterday. Lost a couple of late goals to St Johnstone and Hamilton, werent really at the races against Hearts, with a good win over the locals at the end.

Dundee United game was decent- Gomis and Bauben both class players for United, but Alloa were definitely the better team.

Not really about the games anyway, more about the day out and once again was a great weekend.
