Cowbenbeath - Playoffs 2nd Leg |
|
|
Game 8 against Cowdenbeath.
My hopes for the first leg were that we would still be in the contest. That was achieved - although their late equaliser takes the a bit of the gloss off. Despite Cowdenbeath resting their stars in the previous game, they still werent good enough.
If we have enough players fit - we can win this game.

Agree with you there Duffle, prior to Wednesday night I would have been very happy going into the game at the Recs level and thats the scenario we have. Must admit I wasnt sure if the players would be able to lift themselves for Wednesday after the disappointment of losing the title and particularly so given the long list of injuries. Great credit goes to them that they were able to re-focus and go to Central Park and get an excellent result.
This time last week we were about to face Cowden needing a favour from elsewhere. This time its all in our own hands and we cant ask for more than that. Anybody have any word on the injured players? Even being able to bring a couple of them back would be a great boost.
Hope we get a really good crowd at the Recs tomorrow to give the team a strong backing.

| Think Brown may be back. He done the warm-up and was kicking a ball around the other night. |

Don't want to be negative but I just get the feeling that they are due a win over us. If we were to play say a Falkirk or any team 8 times, I am sure we would get a win at some point . Its a tall order to play them 8 times and not lose once.
C'moan Alloa. We need a pick me up after a week that has seen us lose the title and the spectre of a Tory government haning over us all . We need some good news chaps..... |

| After Tuesday's performance I think that if the players have the same mental attitude then that should see us win tomorrow. The hunger was there to see and the youngsters added a real freshness to the side which has been lacking for a while. I hope Mark Brown is back in the midfield tomorrow as we are lacking a physical presence in that position. Should be a decent size crowd at the game...let's get right behind the team and hope they respond! |

A disappointing end to the season - it was the easiest 2nd Division in years to win - and we blew it. Then we lose to a less than convincing Cowden side.
There's always next season. |

Thought the team did pretty well today given there were so many already missing, losing McAvoy and Scott and with Prunty and Brown not looking fit. We made really good chances in the first half and should have been a couple of goals up at the break but with a shadow team like that we couldnt afford to be missing those. Once Cowden scored we flagged and there was nobody in midfield or attack to provide leadership or a creative spark.
The truth is we didnt blow it today but last month. We failed to see out what should have been a fantastic season and we wont get a better crack at the title for some time. Hugely disappointing.
