While the Clyde result could be seen as 2 points dropped (a draw against the bottom team) - we did create a fair number of chances - and finished the game on a high.
But thanks to the period of bad weather (and the SFL's decision to pack all the games into March) - there's little time for post mortems.
So far both sides have won one game - their victory against us at the Recs being one of the low points of the season.
Your thoughts? |

My lineup would be : Crawford McClune Walker Towner Welsh Bomber Grant Brown Scott Prunty Noble
Even though Gils did set up the first goal against Clyde, I just think he didnt play well and should start on the bench. Also i would drop carroll as we neeed Mark brown in the middle as he makes the midfield more stable and plays well alongside Grant. I will go for 2-1 to Alloa. Andy scott and David Gormley the scorers |

The Sons have lost their last 4 and only won 3 times at home all season so you'd think we were in with a shout. From the manager's comments after Saturday, he will be looking to strengthen the midfield, maybe bringing in Bomber from the start and benching Carroll. Maybe there's some doubt about this one. Deep frosts predicted for Sunday and Monday nights and The Rock doesn't thaw out too well. |

Need to remember Kevin Welsh hasnt played much football this season. Stepped up from amateur football to the SPL in the summer and played 1 competitive game for Accies in August. Then 1 and a bit games on loan for us in September followed by a few months out with a bad injury. Bound to need a few games to get up to speed after that and with the fixture backlog he will get that . Keep reading on P&B that Dumbarton have been weak in the full back positions so hopefully Gills and Scott will have a go at their men and try and exploit that. |

| 3 - 1 it finished. Scott Walker sent off for 2 yellows. Is he available for Saturday? |

| Never a penalty and never a second booking. Alloa didnt deserve to win as Dumbarton were first to every ball and looked up for it. The starting line up was awful |

One defeat after a 10 game unbeaten run and the grumblings start.
Aye the team was rank last night but come on guys we are not going to win every game between now and the end of the season. Lets not forget that these boys are part-time who work all day, a couple of nights training and two games a week, you have to rotate the squad.
However as showed last night maybe the strength in depth is not there, for me McCafferty isnt good enough, Carrol is to much of a liabilty, makes the odd nice pass but is to weak, Gormley hasnt showed much at all as yet and as much as i like Gilhaney he is becoming a bit of a passenger.
You cant blame the boss for keeping Noble,Grant and Scott in reserve for Saturday as on paper it should have been the hardest of the two games, he is paid to make these decisons and i would have thought we would have had enough about us to at least get a draw with what we put out against a team that had lost their previous 4 games.
I would also suspect Welsh was get for Saturday to, lets not forget he is just back from a long term injury and played the whole game on Saturday, he is bound to still be feeling the effects of his layoff and i would imagine would struggle to play 2 games in 3 days at teh moment.
Anyway roll on Saturday, hopefully a stronger starting 11 and nothing to fear from the meerkats, lets go out and pump them. |

Welsh didnt even make the bench, but we thought he might have been working.
It was well below par for the first hour, but once we made the triple substitution we played far better. The penalty award was one of the worst I've ever seen. Dumbarton looked shaky when put under pressure and had the deficit only been 2, with 11 men on the park, I'd have fancied us for a point.
Happy to take a defeat on the chin here if we take something from the next 2 games which are far more important. |

| With Stirling losing and Cowden winning - it has turned into 4 horse race. At least we are at the right end of the table this season! |

According to web site some players got stuck in traffic (on M8)....so suppose AM put out the strongest team available.
Questions though of players who left it late to get to the game & possibly cost us a point (or three)
Agree 4, or better still 6, points from the next two games will do just fine. |

Could have been a different story if we'd competed in the first half and if the ref had been competent. That's a lot of 'ifs' so probably didn't deserve anything. At 1-0 the ball flew off Walker's boot on to his hand so swiftly that it couldn't have been deliberate. For the free-kick the wall collapsed ... 2-0. Then Wyness took a fresh-air shot and fell on his a**e; Walker was next to him and no contact was made, but the ref was in his groove by then. Penalty was given, 3-0. It was an almighty task now, but all credit to them they brought on Noble, Grant and Scott and set about it. Could have made it with a bit of luck, but the Sons kept 9 men back and held on. Got to move on now, but they have to remember just turning up is not enough. Shouldn't need to be fired up for Saturday though. |
