The ref has no choice other than to award a retake if either the keeper comes off his line or one or more defenders encroach. That's the laws. Whether the ball goes miles over the bar or not is irrelevant. I was too far away to know what happened here but I suspect that one or more Alloa defenders went into the box before the kick was taken. If so this is the completely the Alloa players' fault. In fact if I was the manager I would be furious with them as it could have cost us the game and there is nothing to be gained from them doing this.

As to the media coverage generally. Most of it is complete sh*te by people who don't know the laws and who have a story to sell. This week the coverage of the high profile case of Scott Brown's red card was ridiculous. Big game, player guilty of violent conduct, player gets red card - where's the story in that?

Fair enough Printer. But we have been the victim of some refereeing howlers this season.

1. Noble brought down in the box yesterday. Free kick given outside the area by a ref a long way away. Poor decision.
2.Prunty gets an excellent goal chopped off against Arbroath following an overhead kick. Poor call again.
3.Stonewall pen not given against East Fife at the Recs during the 0-0 game when Gillhaney tripped in the box. Good goal disallowed that day also by Ian Brines who had an absolute shocker.

The refs are just not at the races.

Have to say I really enjoyed the game, despite the disappointing result. Clyde played really well, but would say we probably deserved to get a point from the match, and the blatant time wasting from players/management and fans means I am struggling to have any sympathy for Clyde.

Cant believe some of McCormacks comments in the papers, seeing as he was really at the centre of it all. Complaining about the keepers yellow card when it was HIS FAULT- he told the keeper to change sides when taking the goal kick. I dont even think the keeper wanted to do it.

Absolute screamer of a volley from McClune- wont see a better goal all season. Also dont think I have gone as crazy for an Alloa goal in a very long time- didnt get my voice back til about half 9

Have to look on it as a point gained and move on.

None of these three examples were really bad decisions. And certainly none were howlers IMO.
1. I thought Noble was just inside the area, but it was close. The ref wasn't a long way away, he was about 5 or 6 yards away and at a perfect angle to make the call.
2. I thought the ref could have given the goal but I can see why he disallowed it.
3. Don't remember the Gilhaney incident, but equally don't remember any obvious penalty claims that were turned down. What good goal are you talking about? If it is Walker's header than that was clearly a foul.

Printer do you honestly think if we were awarded a penalty on Saturday and say Noble or Prunty skyed it over into Hawkhill, Do you think we would get a re-take in this match? The referee gave them every 50/50 call the whole game.

Yes I was talking about Walkers goal against East Fife. I was standing in front of it and it looked ok to me? Christ even the East Fife players were pissed off and didn't shout for a foul.

The best referee in Scotland just now is Charlie Richmond. The rest are mediocre.
