Its going to be a tough game and it is a must win. Seen as after this game, all the midweek games in March start to effect all the clubs. I will go for Alloa to win 1-0 and ....... Andy Scott to score |

Looking forward to watching Barry Wilson. Formidable scorer throughout his career and one of the principle destroyers of Celtic in that 'Super Caley' game, it's a crime he never played for Scotland. Maybe doesn't have the running power he used to (he's about 38 now), but still a fine footballer. Remember this game last season when we were all over them and still lost thanks to comical defending. The'new' Alloa don't lose games like that anymore and have been the better side in all meetings with them this year. Would expect a tough game, but think we can chalk up another result. |

Would think Peterhead will make it down okay. Remember well that game from last season that Tommy mentioned, one of the most frustrating Alloa matches in a long time with us dominating and missing chance after chance then throwing it all away in the end. Another big game for us tomorrow and think the manager is right to say its a must win for us, we need to be winning the home games. There is every chance most of the other games will be off so a great chance for us to increase the gap again and put the pressure on those behind us to win their games in hand. Mon the Wasps... |

Got Bomber and Gils back for this game, they wouldnt have been available last week had the game gone ahead. With Buist and Townsley playing in a bounce game during the week, both of them must also at least be in contention to start.
So we are getting pretty much back to a full squad available. If we get a bit of luck on the injury front throughout next month then we should hopefully have enough quality on the park to keep the good run going.
Peterhead are a bit of an unpredictable mob this season, but dont appear to be as good as previous seasons. Very hopeful of at least 7, possibly 9 points from our next 3 matches. |

With the other contenders' games called off this is an excellent chance for us to extend our lead and put another three points on the board. The call offs can only be good news for us if we continue to pick up points at a decent rate as there will be pressure on Stirling's squad in particular to cope with so many weeks when they have two games.
Having pretty much a full squad available as we go into this difficult period is also a real boost. Allan Maitland can rest players to make sure we have as fresh a lineup as possible for each game. |

Another good win. It's becoming a very good habit and the team look as though they expect it now. Again achieved despite disruptions (Walker playing left back, Brown having to go back to defence when Buist went off, and Bomber not deemed fit enough to start).
Peterhead's defence couldn't handle Noble in particular. Really we should have been ahead before the goal (which was well taken by an on-fireNoble). Prunty again got a number of half chances on target, although how he missed that chance in the second half!
Again McLune was excellent. Pretty much everyone played their part but special mention IMO to Scott, Brown, Walker and of course Noble. Andy Scott hasn't been playing as we know he can but he has filled in out of position during this good run and looked a different player when moved back to the right his runs infield and linking with the front two particularly dangerous.
Mark Brown is proving like Walker to be an excellent signing. Just does a job whereever he is asked to play.
Walker looks a fish out of water at left back, but again doesn't complain, just gets on and does a job. He was up against Barry Wilson and handled him pretty well.
Stuart Noble if he continues this form will be a strong candidate for player of the year, not just for us but also in the whole division.
If we can get a win on Tuesday and then follow that up with another Saturday we are going to take a bit of stopping.

This game was one the most frustrating i have watched all season The football we played in the first half was brilliant to watch at times and we moved the ball round with ease at times but we could not score from the multiple chances we made.
Alloa's first goal was from a great pass throught to Noble who in turn vapourised Bobby Mann for pace lol even i could do that but he took his chance well. Peterheads goal was through very poor defending from Scott Walker who in my opinion will never make a left back in million years he was about as uncomfortable as John Terry would feel at a hen night right now.
The second half was poor and Alloa thought they just had to fall out the dressing room and run the clock down but thankfully we got there in the end.
BTW is it just me or was Aggie a better prospect than Gilhaney i cant tell the difference because both of them are terrible defenders but at least Aggie tracked back Gilhaney thinks he does not have to defend.
Summary
good result, brilliant first half 2nd half pretty poor angainst a poor team down to 10 men! |

Other than letting Peterhead score with their first attack of the game I thought it was a decent performance by the team.
Should have been streets ahead in the first half, some great stuff and Noble tucked his chance away brilliantly. 1-1 at half time was not in any way a score which reflected the balance of play.
Second half Alloa started quite subdued, took a long time to get going- the furstration of this leading to a fair bit of uncharacteristic abuse coming from some people on the terracing, which I thought was maybe a wee bit unjustified. Missed a few cracking chances but the goal came in the end, which was well deserved.
Thought it was a pretty poor turnout- not checked the attendance yet, but expected more people to make the effort to make the game seeing as the team are on such a good run, particularly after the decent attendance at the midweek Cowden game a few weeks back. |

Both Welsh and McCaffety had the flu bug (from the horse's mouth)
Bomber's knee is troubling him and is worse when playing at home so he will play more in the away matches, of which we have a few coming up.
It would be unfair to pick out any player yesterday as being below par because they all put in a good stint. The performance in the first half especially was about as good as Alloa has played all season. Several players could easily have got hat tricks.
The funniest comment I heard from the terraces was in the second half and one of our players was adjudged to be offside. The wag from the railway end shouted out "How can he be offside ? Bobby Mann's still on the park" I also heard Mann described as the only pair of Siamese twins currently playing in Scottish football.
Great result, great performance, 8 points in front and the pressure is all on the chasing teams. AM must be in line for yet another MotM award.

A good win yesterday and keeps our excellent run going. The football Alloa played up until Peterhead scored against the run of play was the best at the Recs since Alan Maitland became manager , in my opinion. The passing and movement was really good to watch and we looked like a team at the top of the table.
I thought Brown, Noble, McClune, Gary Carrol and Andy Scott were excellent yesterday. There is a good ballance about us in the middle of the park with Carroll geting on the ball and making passes. Noble was great yesterday again and is really benefiting from us signing Brian Prunty.
Like Brian Roach, I was disappointed in the poor crowd yesterday for a team top of the table. Yes it was freezing weather, but 448 was a p*sh turnout for the team and the club deserve better. The old firm were not playing yesterday either. We haven't lost a match since mid -November and its about time that some got off their a**es and actually go to a game instead of being TV experts watching Soccer Saturday and having an opinion on everything. |

Agree with Oweny, our play in the first half was first-class. The best I've seen at the Recs for a long time. Strengthens the belief that the most attractive and worthwhile football is played on the floor. A real threat up front (Prunty and Noble) takes pressure off the rest of the side and gives them a chance to play a passing game. Think that the crowds will grow if they can keep it up. Remember a few years back how the crowds turned out when Willie Irvine, the Butcher and co. were turning it on. |
